Burns inside my heart 

In my mind

You are very near

Yet in vision 

Unclear

Through the haze

Through the smoke

As a mirage you appear

A strong and steady man

In a flash

Blink of an eye

In a second you disappear

But wait ---

Was I dreaming? 

Were you truly there?

Something I just imagined 

Vanished into thin air

Oh, but I do hear your whispers

Like an invisible

Caress to my ears

To my mind

A feeling so sublime

Suspended in time

A single shiver 

Rippling down my spine

Like a butterfly in the night

I flutter my wings

In excited, desperate flight

To the safety of my cocoon

And expected, yet unexpected

Unnatural, but true---

I emerge into myself

In suspenseful silence like

Anticipated words unspoken

A metamorphosis complete

Yet suddenly broken

I watch as it falls

I watch where it lands

Searing, raging with fire
